HELLO, i was due to have virgin broadband installed today the 4th feb, the engineer did not arrive so when i called them about the engineer not turning up i was told it had been canceled because i live in an area that is inaccesable i had received m,y password and the 30 pound connection fee had also been paid,
when i first moved i was told it was in an inaccesable area and was given the number to phone a spotter to come out this was in november, in january i started receiving letters adressed to me with my name on from virgin saying i am now open to there 3 digital services so about 3 weeks ago i rang them and was suprised when i gave the man my postcode and he said what service would i like, i ordered the broadband size l package gave my debit card details and thought i now would get connected i got letters saying about installing, password etc, but then as i said earlier the engineer did not arrive and i now do not what to do, can anyone understand why this has happened i am now looking to get broadband another way like down a phone line can anyone recomend any broadband providers that do this as some ive checked and with cost of line rental included seem very dear and my line is not active at the moment, i do hope some one can help me out a bit thanks anto |

The areas they will supply cable services in are limited - people in my road have/have had NTL or Telewest services (now part of VirginMedia), but they still wouldn't supply me via cable. A lot of the providers are the same - require an active BT landline before they will proceed.

I have some reservations about the quality of their technical support service, (could be said of most ISPs), but 'My Post Office' will connect you without requiring an active line first if you sign up for phone and broadband service together. There's no connection fee either. (At least this was the case last summer when I was with them). Despite my caveat, they are still a vast improvement on BT, and are/were using Kaspersky AV, which is a lot better than the resource hogging Norton 2007 supplied by BT, or McAfee which many others use and BT are planning to adopt. It was v6, not the then current v7, and bundled with some annoying NetIntelligence IS features which are better not installed IMHO, but still a point in their favour.
