Hi,
Talk to me about the Technotrend cards and VMC - has anyone got them working with CI in VMC? Did someone say there were new drivers? I see they do a USB/external one... |

My personal experience:
* C1501 with vplug - Worked in DVBDream, etc * C1501 with add-on CI card - no program showed me a CI slot was installed and no channels decrypted with vplug switched off. * C1501 acting as DVB-T in VMC - recognised as DVB-T but no channels picked up in scan (could have been never got my head around the software needed to get this to work). * C1501 acting as DVB-C alongside Floppydtvs acting as DVB-T - VMC recognises C1501 as a DVB-C card and so gives me cable EPG. However, after scan no channels show DVB-C device as an input source, and leaving the card enabled gives me CPU problems (ehrecvr.exe runs at 50% CPU the WHOLE time). Disabled card in Device Manager to fix problems. Overall, C1501 is perfect for any software that supports vplug, but doesn't work on any program that doesn't. YMMV. Incidentally, I tried the new file from Technotrend under C1501 called "Update BDA Data" and I ended up with a card that cannot have drivers installed and isn't recognised properly. Not sure what I did wrong, but just be careful when playing around with the software (I assumed I couldn't break the card just by running software - I was wrong!). Still, new one arrived in the post this morning - woot!

I had exactly the same experience as Stu with my TT-1501 Getting Hardware CAM to work was a nightmare (ie it didnt), but Vplug supported progs work really well .
As I want to use my DVB-C card alongside my twin DVB-T, using a psuedo DVB-C/T driver is a no-no anyway. NB. I tried the latest 5.0.1.8 drivers and the results are the same. As you may have guessed, I am flying the flag for MP now. I use it as the only source of TV in the front room and it is now stable enough for the Wife to get off my back. It uses my 3 tuners and the WEBepg which records nicely. I have also set up my Laptop as a client so I can watch TV wirelessly in BED! Why not create yourself a small partition with a fresh vista just to get MP right. It has taken me ages but you will get there in the end. Read through the Mediaportal pros thread again and if you get it working I have put a WEBEPG tut up as well Last edited by dancake; 09-02-09 at 10:16 AM. |

I am thinking about giving it another go mainly because HWMBO is moaning that I've got movies on my TV and she hasn't. Hers is a MCE machine, so I would either have to get one DVB-C tuner + CAM etc, and try Vista + TV Pack to mix it with a DVB-T tuner, or two DVB-C tuners + CAM. The exchange rate isn't helping, with the fire DTVs being £170...
The other options are trying MP again, or putting up with her moaning. I really can't be arsed with it taking months to get right, though. The main problem is that when I sit down to watch TV, she's set loads of stuff to record and I can't watch anything! Is MP stable for you, though, I mean REALLY stable? I could cope with some months of ferking about, IF I could get it to work properly. I guess I just got fed up with messing around to get it to work, then finding I needed another plugin, which broke the install. Fix that, realise you need another plugin, break the install... |

I have actually kept things simple for best performance.
Firstly Dumped all the EXTRA Plugins and Skins; Blue 3 wide is fine Spent time mapping channels and setting up groups Installed VPLUG and all the MDapi stuff Added logos DUMPED EPG GRABBING FROM CARDS; this has a big effect on stability Enabled the XMLTV plugin and set up for XMLTV GUI. Time spent re-naming your channels to make this work is worth it! my setup is E6600 Core 2 duo 4Gb ram XFX 630i/7150 mobo Vista x86 Mediaportal/ TVserver 1.0.0.0 standard apart from with MDAPI/ Vplug/ XMLTV GUI Compro Videomate e700 dual PCIe DVB-T tuner Technotrend 1501-c DVB-C card Acer Laptop- wireless 54G with Mediaportal/ TV Client installed to recieve SD TV (HDTV asks too much of the 54G connection!) I might post a Vid on Youtube of it all working? |

hi dancake,
slight thread hijack, but how are you finding MP 1.0? I'm running rc2 with vplug 2.38 and mdapi and recently i've lost my scrambled channels, so can only view fta ones now. using a TT-1501-C too on VMCE x86 |

go to Vplug news; there is a 2.41 Vplug which will probably have all the latest fixes in it. Dont forget to drag your vkeys file over to get it kick-started to update
