Hi,
This question may give away the fact that I am a complete newbie to this! I live in North London, and the front of my house faces SE (therefore the back faces NW). I think this means that to catch Hotbird or Eurobird channels, I would need to fix the dish to the front of the house. Is there any way I can mount the dish on the back of my house to avoid it looking unsightly? Would there be any satellites in that direction? thanks! Joaquim |

It will only work if you mount the dish high enough to see over the house. A few feet above the gutterline should be fine unless the roof is very steeply angled..
Remember though the dish could be mounted at ground level at the front of the house and maybe hidden behing a low growing bush.

If you have enough distance from the back of your house you could pole mount it in the back garden if you have one.

Just to let you know, before you go buying a dish, the best satellite, at the moment, is Thor@1W, most of the footy games are on it and you can clear them, with the right software. It would be a very good idea to get a dish of at least 1Mtr because Thor is not intended for the British Isles and it needs a fair sized dish for decent reception and if you do decide to go motorised then that dish would do for that also, a motor for that dish would not be that dear and is very easy to install yourself. Good luck with it and you will find plenty of advise here, should you need it. Vry best regards Wez
