Default Surround sound

Hi our dvd player has packed up so we have a surround sound system doing nout at the mo. But looking at currys and other hifi stores we cant get just a dvd player that we can plug the speakers into. We have to buy the lot (we dont need the speakers) So we are a bit stuck dose anyone know a way to get the surround sound going again or where we can buy just a surround sound system without the speakers

cheers

If i understand correctly the DVD player has surround sound built in. You may be better getting a surround sound amp and DVD separate. DVDs often go faulty but amps are a lot less likely to. Getting an amp separate means you don't have to buy the speakers. To get a DVD amp combined but without the speakers is probably not possible.

I've always found richer sounds to be very good.
