Default Read-only connection?

Not really sure how to describe this, but is it possible to have a read-only connection on the line coming into your house? I have a Live TV box working but when i try and move my modem into the same room, it has trouble locking on to the signal.
On the little white box on the wall, i only have one connection (where some people might have two) and it says TV/Data. Is there anything on this which could stop me getting an internet signal?

just stick in a short lead onto the output or tv whichever it says and get a 2 way spliter.then you need a lead of this to your modem and one to tour box.

If you've tried it with a direct feed straight from the isolator (no splitters)
and it just goes in to a continuos loop of rebooting, it sounds like you are still trying to force a config.

Disconnect feed and change mac address to one that comes with a 20Mb config, or just stop forcing.

I'm not forcing a config, just using the one that was loaded onto the modem. I have tried it in another room of the house and it works fine, just wont work in this room.
I opened the white box on the wall and it says QamTex TV/Data Isolation with one input and one ouput. Could it be anything to do with this?

Try splitting before the isolator.

Does the feed coming into my house have any electrical current? I mean can i unscrew the main feed running from the side of my house out of the white box and split it there?

yes you could it may also be electrical interference if passing directly round a plug socket etc.
