Default A Canadian TV set and sky+HD Box

Hi, Everybody,

What do I my need to do to make my Canadian TV set (Sony Bravia XBR 42) work with Sky+HD box? The voltage and frequency are OK but HDMI connection just shows some noise while component cable gives picture in colour and sound but shaking violently. Haven't colour systems differences become thing of the past in the digital age?

Many thanks for your help!

They both use 1080i however in Europe we use 50Hz mains, so the frame rate is 25Hz, in North America, they use 60Hz mains, so the frame rate is 30Hz (actually nearer 29.5Hz)

If your sony TV can be set to 1080/50 or 720/50 then it may work.

Well, my TV is actually designed both for 50 and 60 Hz. At least that is what is written on its back. I heard that sky signal has something of a 100 Hz frequency. Is there any converter/adapter I can get to fix it? Thanks.

It may be designed with a universal PSU for 110-240V and 50/60 Hz - it's the broadcast standard 1080i/50 that it needs to be compatible with. Maybe you could contact Sony tech support to check.
