power off modem, Change NIC/Router mac address. power on modem without coax connected, change ethernet mac, hfc mac, usb mac in webgui then save, power off , coax back in. power on

Should come back to life, my mates was doing that and it fixed it.

thx to morrisoft

if you got a error while flash and you unpluged the modem from the mains then yes its bricked you will need to lift the chip

next modem you flash mate and you get a timed out error on softJ dont unplug the modem use a program called Ambit(CHO) config Beta 96

and flash the bootloader with that then reflash it with softJ

as long as you dont unplug the modem you will be fine

SoftJTAG Crash fix :) check this post out

No i don't get an error when flashing, it's when it's connecting. I have managed to connect but the "write bootloader" option is not highlighted so i still think it's not a brick as i haven't managed to flash.

Will take a look at the other post you have linked to.

Cheers

Just a quick update to my problem,

I have tried allsorts to connect in soft jtag and when it states connection established it freezes, with all buttons greyed out so there is no option but to end program in task manager.

Anyway i connected in hyperterminal ( I have no p option ) and this is what loops on and on.

Anyone fancy having a read and helping out.?

Please bare in mind this is repeated because the modem is in a loop, which goes like this.
Nothing connected just power lead.

ALL lights on,
Power light and Send Light on together,
Send light flashing rapidly( 5 secs, Power remains on )
Send light off ( 1-2 secs, Power remains on )
ALL Lights on.
Start again.

I know this is a massive post but all help will be greatly received.

Cheers

Hi all, this is a bit of a bump and also a quick thought i had.

Goin off what i have posted above, do you think it would be worth, connecting the modem upto my cable feed, ethernet and power to see if the light loop it's stuck in changes at all?

Sure, always worth a try.

It may be rebooting due to not being able to sync to the network, which with the feed out, obviously it wont!

Hi all just want to clear up what the problem with my modem was ( just in case there is another idiot having the same prolem )

Well it was my fault, i thought i had a spare power pack turns out that was the problem. I plugged in the power pack from my subbed modems and voila one flashed modem.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone,

Cheers
