Hi guys,
I've currently got a webstar modem and VM sub for 2Mb line. A friend of mine cancelled his 10Mb sub last year with VM and gave me his Ambit 255 modem. Can I use this modem to get faster access? Can I use both modems and have 2 lines on the same cable with a splitter? Thanks every1 for your future replies. |

Hi,
I tried to connect the Ambit 255 modem to the VM cable. At first the ready and synch lights flashed for few minutes but the ready light went off and synch kept flashing. I tried to switch the modem off and then on but now it does not even try to synchronise. Can anyone please give some help to resolve this problem. Do I need to configure the modem? Perhaps the modem still has the MAC address of the previuos PC? P.S. The modem has not been used for more than a year. Thanks for any replies |

you need to put some new firmware on this modem, i'd use haxor, rc6 to start with, flash using a rs232 cable, change the mac to a one that some one has either traded with you or sniff for one and change it in the config page of haxor.
you can't simply plug a modem that has had no hacked firmware on and expect it to start working...... your going to have to purchase some items, rs232 cable and then do a lot of reading on how to flash an ambit..... |

I managed to install Haxorware firmare on my ambit 255. I logged in via web interface and configured it but when I press the reboot option on the web interface the modem reboot but nothing happens. Then if I try to log in via web interface I can't anymore and I have to flash the bootloader again.
Could please anyone tell what I do wrong. I followed the step-by-step guide on this forum but not luck. Also do I need some advises on the changes require in the configuration: 1. the Preferred DS Freq 1 (I'm with VM in the NW). 2. Can I change the Ethernet Mac address in the web interface with one gathered with DHCP Sniffer? 3. what Filename do I need and where to get it. Thanks for future replies, |

Hi Mowax,
at this stage I use the first option (d) and insert the Board TFTP Server IP Address [0.0.0.0]: 192.168.100.10 and the Enter TFTP Filename[]: haxorware10rc3_Ambit250_fullflash.bin. |

grab your self haxor Vrc6
then use g) Download and run from RAM after you have done this then what i do is DON'T restart the modem and go to 192.168.100.1 this should load haxor web page up, look for firmware upgrade, then select the same haxor file that you just loaded but this time the GUI this will upload it to flash so when you power off the modem and back on you'll have a safe flash.give it a minute and then it will say succsesfull.....this is the safest way to do it. use the 1 meg haxor file...not that flash. haxorrc6 Last edited by mowax; 17-02-09 at 11:24 PM. |

Hi Mowax,
I tryed to follow your guidance by selecting the option (g) but after that I could not log in to the haxor web page. Then I tryed to use the option (d) and I manage to log into the haxor web page and upgrade the firmaware with the file you provided (haxorrc6). But I still have the same problem. I can change the configuration settings on the haxor web page but if I reboot the modem then I cannot log back in to it. Any further advice? Thanks a lot, |
