Default Totally confused about Astra 19.2 beams

Hey I am really new to satellite systems and have just moved to Germany from New Zealand.
I went and bought a Sm@rt mx 04+ and plugged it into the existing dish.
I have managed to get some channels on the Astra 19.2 satellite it was pointed at but for some reason there are heaps of channels I cannot get a signal too.
Like ComedyCentral and Berlin RBB etc.
Its really weird because my friend next door gets these channels no problem but he does not pick up Pheonix which I do.
My question is whats up with this Astra 1h/1kr/1L etc junk and why can I not pick up a lot of the frequencies even though i am pointed at the Satellite...
I am stuck, please help.
I have a 90cm dish and am in kreuztal 57223 if it helps, and if you give me one of the "Use the search link" replies then tell me what I need to search for thx.

Some one correct me if i'm wrong here but New Zealand cannot see Astra 1 as it is below the horizon to it.

No you’re probably right seen as how they are nearly on complete opposite sides of the world, but the thing is that I am currently in Germany and have come from New Zealand.

Sorry, misread your post, got it the other way around

First thing i'd check is that the dish is properly alligned and the lnb skew is correct. Could be that your dish isn't quite right. Using a sat meter helps but get the signal test/setup screen on your reciever and adjust the dish to get the best possible signal you can. Most recievers allow you to change the transponder, so try several. It should not require much movement.

Awesome, Happy to hear that it is a workable problem.
I went through all of the transponders and the best contact I could get was 78% signal strength and 80% quality so I don’t think that is good enough.
I am picking up a Sat meter because I am sure an idiot mounted this dish...as far as I can tell it is pointing straight towards my neighbor’s house and besides, I would love to check out some other satellites.
Thx for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

Remember that some transponders are for analogue transmissions, which you won't get on a digital setup.

Name a couple that you can get and some that you can't.

Any chance you could get to try your receiver next door, and vice versa - that would clarify things, like whether the dish needs adjusting, and whether it could be receiver setup/sensitivity.

Yes I just tried it and it worked fine so it must be my dish.
I will play with it once it stops snowing and I can get to it safely.

Ok I finally managed to get at my dish and improve the signal using my Satfinder.
I found some information on the stations available on different transponders and went through them one at a time to see what i could and could not pickup.
I was able to get a clear signal from -
10743H/Astra 1KR - 22000 5/6
11837H/Astra 1H - 27500 3/4
10832H/Astra 1KR - 22000 5/6

But I cannot get over 45% from -
12663H/Astra 1H - 22000 5/6
12634H/Astra 1L - 22000 5/6
12604H/Astra 1H - 22000 5/6
12480V/Astra 1H - 27500 3/4
12545H/Astra 1L - 22000 5/6
12246V/Astra 1H - 27500 3/4
12110H/Astra 1H - 27500 3/4
12188H/Astra 1M - 27500 3/4

And if i try to search these it just says failed...

Please help I have no idea what to do.

From you previous posts i'm guessing that the dish wasn't used for a while. I suspect the previous occupier of the house didn't use the dish anymore as you have had to realign it.
The next thing that I would check is that the cable is ok, how long is the run btw?
I sorted a similar problem recently, customer swore that no one had touched their dish since sky installed it, but they were now using it with a freesat box. The rain shield on the lnb hadn't been pulled down so water had gotten into the cable. A fresh run of cable and all was fine.
Depending on the location of your dish and reciever this is an easy one to check, make a cable short enough to run to your reciever, you can even move the reciever and hook up to a portable tv if this is easier.
