Well I having moved my dish, I get a pretty good signal from some of 26e, MBC and JSC are a stable picture. Can't get a lock on all tp's but looking at lyngsat I don't think i'm missing anything I'd want.
Cheers 4 pointing that one out

Just a quick one, when setting up the motor, my longditude is -2.5 so does that mean that I should set the motor to 1.5e and line up on 1w ? I'm really close on this now but just wanted to check this point. Thanks guys.

Yep, that's correct, alternatively, use USALS and it will do that for you.

Great. Unfortunatly the motor dosen't support usals. I have decided that the problem is motor bracket. The elevation and latitude don't match. If I set the correct latitude on the motor bracket it dosent match up with the correct elevation on the other side of the bracket and setting either with the correct dec on the dish gets nothing. I can get a signal on the meter from 28e to 8w but can't lock a signal on the reciever past 1w. I have set the pole dead plumb 360deg. Its close, so a little more tweaking should get it I hope.

Looks like you have a Moteck or a TM2200, both do support USALS.

Never known a motor to not match up on both sides. Elevation side is simply 90 minus Latitude setting. It can also be checked with an angle meter.

It never usually works by setting the declination from tables etc, the best way to set the declination is by setting it for best signal on nearest due south satellite.

It's an SLX motor. Got it at B&Q for £25 quid because the U brackets were missing, that and being a trade customer helped. According to the manual it should be set to 36 on the elevation angle with the dish bracket angle of 22.4, my latitude is 54. If I setup to this I can't lock onto anything. There is a latitude scale on one side of the motor and an elevation scale on the other. If I set the latitude at 54 the elevation dosen't match and visa versa.

Cant remember the figures its set to but the elevation and dish angle are both a little higher than the manual suggests and it tracks 1w to 28e perfectly.

The motor manual only says its DiSEqC 1.2, makes no mention of USALS.

I think I will mark it with a dry wipe marker when I next get a chance for a play, see if I can improve it, atleast then it's easy to put back as is.

Yes, I think that is about what I paid. I keep it in my pocket at all times, useful for DIY jobs too.
