The FR Penta works out correct Robbo if you take off the declination setting. The EL scales on them seem accurate enough....other entry level dishes won't be, lol

Yes, I must try a Penta one of these days, bet it doesn't get 7W though, like the Triax110, how about the Gibby?

Few vert Tps on clear days, comes and goes.
The Gibertini Az/El bracket is accurate enough if you install it the right way up ![]() I think entry level is the key word, lol |

I could have used one a million times already. Would really save on the math when an architect specifies a slope in degrees from vertical/horizontal for one.

Well had another play with the dish. Did some fine tuning using 4w, took the 39% patchy signal to 52%.
What I did find really useful was having my little 7" LCD tv setup by the dish. Made up 2x patch leads, 1 male phono to female F, and 1 female F to female phono. Used these to connect the reciever to the tv on composite over the coax normally used for the sky digibox. Worked great which supprised my as its a 40m run ! About 4:30 this morning I tried again for 7w and got a very weak intermittent signal, peaked at 34% for a split second every now and again then dissapeared completley. I've not gained anything channel wise as it wouldn't hold the signal long enough even to scan the chanels in but it did put a smile on my face

Just hope it wasn't 8W you'd found.

Excellent then. You can't be too far off from getting a picture, with a slightly bigger dish.

Thinking about going bigger, will have to talk the mrs into it though. Shame triax don't do a 1.2m as she probably wouldn't notice that.
Also might have to wait for funds as my thought is may as well go for a 1.5m but then i'm into a new motor rather than just a new dish. Might wait a while then look at a 1.5m gibby maybe. How's the fibo Robbo? are you seeing any improvement over the TD110 ? To peak the signal on my TD it took a tiny adjustment to the skew, about 1 degree and 3 x 1mm window packers where the lnb arm meets the dish to raise the lnb angle slightly without altering the declination on the dish, has given me a better signal quality accross the board. I'm not up enough yet to understand quite why it made such a differance, just that it did. If anyone can explian it I'd love to understand why.

No, the Fibo did not perform as well as the Triax TD110. I don't know if the dish was slightly warped (it didn't look like it), but the performance on 7W was just short of the Triax. I was still able to get all 7W verticals on it, but I had the occasional pixelation during the day on some transponders, even after fitting the Invacom quad C120 to it. The dish is now in the shed, where it will stay, with the Triax back in pole position.
Crossbones was selling his 1.5M gibby BTW for £150. Yes the focal point of the TD110 is not quite right.
