make sure you have the max connected correctly on the 5 pin header on the 250, obviously you cant cover all 5 because the max cable only has 4 connectors !. I m sure you put the one with the black wire nearest the ethernet port first that leaves the last pin free, someone confirm please.

Have you also done your settings corectly in hyperteminal and set the com port settings also check the haynes manual for these,if not then you will have to input them.
any help pm me

i've got the same problem mate it's grayed out at this part in hyperterminal-When you click that then go to 'Connect using' and change it too 'COM1' and hit 'Configurate', then change - it's already set to com1!! i cant click 'Connect using'. my max232 is connected by usb, could this be the problem?

that dont sound good, Mine is the same mate.
I stared trying to put haxoware on a 250 and looks like I have bricked my 1st one after doing tons of infinites no problem. I wont give up though haxoware will not beat me !
If you aint got the p option then try the softjag `exploit` hack.
I have done this before, but it wont let me in this time, after trying to flash with haxoware
