Hi am new to this ( bet you've heard that before! ) and stumbled accross this thread Im in St Albans, Herts on Virgin and have the exact same problem with a Eurovox 5100 pvr which i got today after the first one was sent back it didnt receive any power. Have tried restoring the the factory default twice but am still not getting any channels scanned. Am tempted to change the symball rate? Are the ones listed above right for my area?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, its doing my nut in

Hi and welcome to Techwatch
changing the symbolrate doesn't do any harm it just means you get no transponders and wasted a bit of time if you use the wrong one.

St. Albans is 6887

good to see your sorted

the illegal box channel is just a scare tactic ignore it, you are annonymous as there is no talkback on these boxes.
you will only need new firmware if Vermin manage to defeat the present firmware
