Boot message problem

HI EVERYONE WONDER IF SOMEONE COULD HELP HAVE AQUIRED SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA EXPLORER 8300DVB HD BOX TROUBLE IS WHEN ITS SWITCHED ON BOOT COMES UP IN LED WINDOW TV STARTS TO CHANGE THEN LED SCREEN GOES BLANK AND ALL YOU ARE LEFT WITH IS THE LED ON LINE LIGHT.IF THIS IS AN EASY FIX WILL GO FURTHER AND TRY TO PROGRAMME BOX AND CARD MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE.ROYBOY.

When the box reaches this state, how long have you left it? I don't use a Scientic Atlanta box, but i do use a pace, and that too says boot, led screen goes blank, waits a little while then starts to update itself, within 5 mins of powering up, its on, and working.

Does the box respond to any remote key presses? Or the front panel keys, do they prevoke any response? Have you tried to factory reset the box? (Not sure how to do that on that box)

Any more info about the box? What area its from? Card - nthell or virmin card? etc.

Surely if connected to a HD tv, this wouldn't matter at all? He stated having just the 'on-line' light, i assume he means the standby light.

Hi thanks for reply all ive got on tv screen is powering up just a moment that stayes there permently box does nothing no matter what keys are pressed tried resetting no change i belive its from tw area as the card is tw i am in ntl could this be the problem as i sure this box has not been played with yet many thanks.Royboy

Hi only connected to my tv in bedroom by av and only getting powering up message on tv screen its not the standby lcd on box it reads "on line" with little lcd light next to it ????? thanks.Royboy

I wouldn't know if its the same with SA boxes, but have you tried to get into the eng menu?

On a pace you press and hold channel up and down buttons while pluggin power into the box, hold until diag displays and then you are in engineers menu.

Try this with yours, or try holding the down button the box while applying power to the box.

if you still have the same problems, i have to ask.. is the box connected to the cable stream? If not, you won't get off the 'powering up' because its trying to update!

Hi Morrisoft got into what they call diag screen but what do i need to look for now sorry about this but am lost with this type of box.Billyboy

You will need to check that your netid and frequency are correct for your area.

You will also need to change them, if they are incorrect. Once this has been done, reboot the box and wait, could take 5mins could take 50mins, have patience and your box will update and likely boot.

You box will not update unless your netid is correct. Your frequency may need changing too, as the default is not always the correct one for your area.

There are also several different frequencys for certain areas of the country, if one doesnt work, try another and so forth.
