Well, decided that I would move my dish to the back of the house. The downside is that I have to get the ladders out now to fiddle with it as the dish needs to be high to see over the connifer hedge, but it beats letting the local kids fiddle with it.
I also added a 60cm zone 2 dish on which is locked on 28e. I still have a little tweaking to do, but appearance wise it's all done. dish1.JPG dish2.JPG Dish3.JPG dish4.JPG

Thanks, Twin LNB on the 1.1 feeds into 2 x DISEqC switches, which also takes 2 feeds from the quad on the 60 and passes that to my fortec pvr, there is also a feed from the 60 which goes streight to my sly box.

looks good but if your going to raise it up a foot or so then i would say get a long length of scaffold pole and concrete some into the ground and use the brackets on your shed to support it
are you sure the dish needs to be higher as the 28e dish looks to point at the hedge ? |

Its fine as is, Dosen't need to be higher (I see how that reads though). I would have prefered to have the dish lower so that a) its a bit more sheltered, and b) I don't have to get the ladders out to get at it. Where I had it before was on the side of the house. It was very visible and very reachable, very easy to work on but the local kids couldn't resist. The garden is quite sheltered though and pointed at 1w the dish takes most wind side on.
I was quite lucky really, mine only got messed with once. The guy down the road had his 60cm fortec dish moved every weekend !

just change the pole as is that 2inch diameter as it doesn't look like it is, if the wind does become an issue then you will have to go the polar mount route
is that large conifer tree in the background inline with the dish as it will be a good win break if you get strong wind going down the back of your house whats on the other side of the conifer hedge as you could trim it down half a foot if its yours |

The pole is 2" galv steel.
The other side of the conifers is a road. I can't really be bothered to cut the conifers down, trimming them is enough work. The dish takes most of the wind side on at 1w so think it will be ok. The missus is happy now though as a) there isnt a "stupidly big dish" (her words) on the side of the house and b) i have to keep the hedge trimmed if I want to watch tv. I told her that if she keeps her hedges trimmed I would keep that hedge trimmed. Still trying to figure out why that comment didn't impress her much lol
