First off Hi everyone,
New to the community so bare with me if i make any stupid mistakes! Iv got just a few questions which hopefully wont trouble to many ppl. Im currently recieving my internet via a cable model from Virgin media. I gave them a call and asked if it where possible to activate a second modem (so that I didnt have pruchase any wireless equiptment). I had recently been given a Webstar (made by scientific alanta) cable modem by a friend. Its the exact same modem that I am currently using. I was told that I would not be able to have two of these modems on the same internet connection and If I wanted to split the internet wireless equiptment would ne required. Ok so to my question, Is there anyway at all for me to activate this second cable modem I have so I can use it? Im pretty computer savvy and just need a little help in finding out what I need to read up and learn about in order to get it working. I am completely new to this but If anyone has the time to show me I can learn pretty quick and dont mind reading up on tutorials etc at all. Any help on the matter would be much appriciated! thanks |

Hi bud, personally have you seen how cheap and easy it is to set up wireless you could do it easily for under £50 less hassle then leads and wires and hacking that mod

The reason I dont want wireless hardware is because of the house. Iv tested even some of the best hardware around in my house and In one particular room where Im trying to hook up the net its just easier me for me to get it all wired up. Being an avid gamer aswell a wireless connection just doesn't cut it for me unfortunately.
Secondly I wana learn how to do it: ) It would be something useful to learn and and would probably come in handy in the future to. |

U could create a wired network if u wanted aswell but yeh read the manual u will need to put another wiring point anyway or split the signal.
