luckly my hd receiver is made by amstrad and i've no problems with it (touching wooden desk lol)

reports though of 90,000 pace hd receivers with the fault and pace receivers are meant to be the best unless they have gone down hill since the 2600/ds430n digiboxes

Having spoken to my distributor who has spoken to Sky about Pace HD boxes, Sky are monitoring the situation apparantly, but NOT calling back the receivers.

The "Fault" on these boxes is alleged to be that they have component outputs which have no encryption on them allowing people to rip/copy the HD content. Which has upset the industry hence the recall.

They are being recalled, and over a 3 month period. Sky have said that it is a build problem with some boxes that may result in a box failure at some point in the future. It is an optional recall.

The old Thomson boxes with component out can be used with a Hauppage pvr to record HD content, those boxes are becoming rare now, and all Sky HD boxes now only come with HDMI outputs on them.

Just google Pace hd box recall, and it will take you to 2 big threads on the subject on AVF and DS forums.

Here is the link to Sky.com with details. http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skyco...icleId=2428910
