Default SB4100 Locked Firmware

I've managed to get a working SB4100 but the firmware is locked and I can't mod it via netboot. According to the Haynes manual it has to be soldered at certain points. My soldering sucks, is there any other way to do this without soldering?

I've since found out that this can be hacked using the bitfile method, but I am unsure how to do this. Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial

Thanks
