Default EV5000 PVR - Started Missing Recordings....

Had the 5000PVR since they came out basically.

Its all flashed etc.

I tape the WWE live on monday nights, or the PPVs on Sundays etc.

Last night was set at roughly 12.20am to tape SS1 from 12.57am to 4.25am. It never kicked in.

I't been sporadically "not kicking in" for a few weeks now.

My Monday night (early Tues morning) recordings have either been there or not - and I'm getting a bit miffed.

If I try just recording tv now it works fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers, Dranny

I've never had much success using the epg to set recordings, especially with PPV events, i always set up a manual start/stop using the timer function.

I'll try that for something tonight.

I have an inkling its to do with being past midnight and the unit resets itself or something.

I normally set using the timer option off the EPG, then edit start and end times so I dont miss anything due to earl start/late finish.

Missing all of it routinely is upsetting!

Hi m8, the ex5000 is known to do this, it’s a fault with the s/w, ive been waiting for someone to sort this out for ages, I don’t think its going to happen as its replacement is now out. It’s a problem with the favourite menu, if you don’t put you favs in order your recordings will work. Hope this helps.
Also some mornings the box wont switch on unless you reset it from the back.this also doent happen if you dont use your favs menu.

Incidentally I set a manual timer for last nights wrestling and it worked fine.

Is this the way to go all the time, or will the problem mentioned above kick in?

I think the problem is something to do with passing midnight. My unit switches itself to standby at midnight even when I am watching a programme. Comes straight back on when I use the remote. I haven't actually been recording at midnight, but I'll bet it would switch to standby if I was. Looks like a software bug.

This is a known fault and hopefully in the future with software updates this problem will be resolved until then will have to put up with it im afraid.

I’ve got the same issue on my 5100…. Tends to happen more so when I set a recording up. Also happens during the day when I return home from work the box has gone into standby too.

For the last two days it’s been fine.

What I did was Set my recording as per usual (manually). Then before I go to sleep I change the channel view from favourite view to normal i.e. showing all channels from 1 to 2xx., and leave the box like that.

Woke up this morning to find that my recorded program had worked and the box didn’t go into standby…

Worth a try, probably need a bit more experimenting, but we’ll see how long it continues to work for

Regards

I set a recording last night for a film, it started at 21:00 and ended at midnight. Now in the past the box has gone into stand by after recording a show at night. So this time I set the recording up manually (I usually just press the record button) and set it to start recording at 20:55 and end at 23:59. I woke up this morning and the box was still recording.. I had to stop it myself It's recorded nearly 8 hours worth of TV. That's one that has never happened to me before. No idea why it did it, I don't these boxes are the most reliable machines ever made
