well ive got the same issue described here, and im not sure that the people replying understand what our problem actually is.
i have had a working mac for quite a while, it stopped working and was gardened (goes to activation as described) I have now sniffed around 20 new macs, and each and every mac is going to the activation. Everytime i am testing a new mac im using a different NIC mac using a locally adminned option on the NIC, and also changing the serial etc on the modem, but still every single mac goes to activation. I have one mac left, one i sniffed about a year ago, it is the only one that will work, but i really want to get another few spare in case it goes down. has anyone anytheories as to why every single mac would do this? |

are these macs you sniffed using dhcp sniffer bruteforce?
If your situation is anything like mine then I think you have luckily got 1 mac from your own ubr a year ago that is far away enough to now be on a diff cpc set, whilst still within your ubr. I believe the network stucture changes over time and that mac you have, where it would have been unusable at the time you sniffed it, is now usable based on the above. There are posts in more recent threads outlining whats going on here, would be a better source of reading then this slightly dated one j |

When I get the broadband-activation screen, I set my DNS to 208.67.222.222 and mostly everything is fine.! OK for home use, just have to set DNS on the router...
