Default Laptop To TV Help Please

Right, what I would like to do is connect my Laptop to my HDTV through HDMI but I would like to kind of "freeze" the image. I want to watch tonight's Manchester United game and I would also like to browse the net. Could I possibly freeze the computer on the game while it's still streaming and do other tasks without affecting the picture on the TV (which is showing the game)?

I know it sounds complicated but I can't think of any other way to word it.

Thanks.
