Default East London Cable Modems

Hi,

I've been trying to get cable modems working for friends over in East London, ex-CW, for a couple of weeks now.

I'm not having any luck and I am particularly stumped as according to several sources we are on the same exchange, but different UBR's and a fair distance apart.

I bought a signal booster, the 3 pot active return job, no difference at all, better signal but no lock whatsoever. I'm really stuck as the modems work at my place but not over there.

Now I know I am not missing anything as I have got them working at my place but not there. Resetting to factory defaults every time to be sure and inputting freqs again etc.

If anyone has experience in East London, I would be grateful if they could give me some advice.

(inb4 read the Haynes manual, google, stickies etc)

Thanks for the reply mate. It's appreciated.

All I know is that he is C&W and on the bmly (bromley) exchange, as I have checked with the postcode etc.

The problem I am having is that I can't get a lock on the downstream, even in different houses around the area. I just don't get it, it's baffling me as I come home and plug it in and it works straight away.

AFAIK tftp etc should not stop you getting at least a lock on the DS. ATM I am falling at the first most simple hurdle! Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

Oh really? Didn't know that. On C&W for definite?

My problem is a few weeks old now, but I tried with a amplifier today to no avail. Maybe I'll give the new freq a go. Can you confirm this is C&W please? I take it it is.
