hi... my lappy is currently connected to a virgin modem...my cable provider..by a ethernet cable. whuich keeps cumin loose..was thinkin of goin wireless ....is dsl wat i need plus a dongal...was just thinkin of usin it in the house not for takin away with me when travellin etc ...does goin wireless affect the speed of use.. on when on the net,,downloadin web pages or downloadin for example,,,cud anyone reccommend wat to get ..make model and where is the best place to get it...many thanks ...bigfella

Hey.
Your ethernet cable keeps coming loose? I'd probably just buy another one then! Haha. You don't need anything to do with DSL since you're using fiber optic cable. Using wireless will not have any effect on the speed of your connection other than what you're using on the wireless connected device! I have used the following router for years (with VM) and it has been fine, I have never had any issues with it what so ever. Wireless Access Point Router w/ 4-Port Switch 802.11g: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo Pretty simple to setup aswell - if you need any further help or advice, just give us a shout! |

soz if this is a silly question ..but i have a wireless enabled hp pavillion dv9000 laptop and was wonderin do i need to get a dongle/wireless usb adapter ( im assumin these r the same thing) if i buy a wireless router thanks bigfella

Hey,
No you won't - I have just checked your model and it has a wireless card. You will not need to buy a any additional items other than the router! |

eventually i decided on the Netgear WGR614UK Wireless 54G Cable Router which i have ordered from amazon,,again many thanks for the advice and infro much appreciated ,,,bigfella
