Hi, I'v been trying to reflash my cable modem. I managed to unlock the console using console unlocker, then used softJTAG and put bootloader 2.1.6d on it. When I used hyper terminal I managed to get the p option and got to the part where you type in 250hack_dump_telnet. It would not connect to this so I pulled the power out of the modem, I redid the steps and had the same problem again so I pulled the power again, when I went to reload hyperterminal again it would not connect to the modem, just had a blank screen. Iv tried to use console unlocker again but it says its unlocked and I have tried to use softJTAG but it just says "ERROR: Unable to connect to modem". The power light is steady on the modem but the ethernet flashes. I am thinking I have bricked the modem but I'm not sure as it only seems to happen through softJTAG from what I have been reading. Can anybody help me sort this out? Thanks

Thank, think its bricked then. How do I go about sorting it out. I know you have to do a tsop lift but do I need to replace the tsop with another one or just take it out and put the same one back in again?

You'd need a steady hand, good soldering skills and a SPI/Willem Programmer (bout 20 quid). Keep the same TSOP by the way.
Or send it to Bad_Ad and he'll fix it for you. I don't know, but you may be able to get test clips to suit that TSOP and program it without removing it. But that works out to the same cost as a new flashed modem! |

There are test clips for tsops, but they are specialized equipment and cost around £300-400. then you need the skills to lift and replace tsop without damage. As I said, this is the cheapest method... ive just replaced my old willem with a new USB one + adapters which has run me for £280. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, yes the modem sounds bricked. |

Thats a little pricey, think its cheaper to buy a new modem as I would only be using it for myself. If I were to send you my modem would you be able to unbrick it for me and how much do you charge for the service if so?
