Hi all – first time on satellite, I have the HDR cabled up, by an 'expert', to an existing but never-used-before dish (2 cables). I get a great picture on plenty of channels, including HD, and can record but, when doing the latter, some channels are not available. eg: recording BBC2, I can't simultaneously watch ITV1 (on any channel). Assuming this isn't normal behaviour, what's the cause/solution please?

Assuming you have it cabled to two outputs from a twin or quad LNB on the dish, to the two inputs marked LNB1 in and LNB2 in (and not to LNB1 out), you may need to re-run the initial setup and check that during this it identifies LNB inputs twice indicating it has found both feeds. Otherwise it will be acting in single-feed mode and restricting the second tuner to channels available on the feed to the first tuner.

Thanks for replying. The cables on the back are correct and, assuming they correct at the dish, I need to run freesat detection again, as you suggest, but how do I get back to that? Factory Reset would achieve it, but is there a way that doesn't wipe recorded data?

I cannot imagine that the factory reset would wipe previous recordings from the HDD (that doesn't happen on Humax Freeview PVRs), but simply resets the parameters stored in flash memory, ie. Channels, TV settings and Scheduled recording timers. |

'Twas the way I read the manual, that made me think it was going to wipe the HD - I took your advice and Factory Reset has solved the problem - thank you very much for the hand holding!
