Lightbulb Best Equiptment?

Hi i am very new to this and basically would rather have cable than sky.
I origionally went for Sky+ because i was given a free £100 box (couldnt go wrong) But i have VM Broadband & Phone, Id rather have Cable tv two, cant handle the double billing its just annoying.

Sorry about the life story lol.

Basically i'd like to know what box would be best to go for baring in mind im new to this and would like an easy set up etc...
Also i really would like to have HD as i have HD tv and i do like to record and pause that is a necesety.

Please Help.

The only boxes that give HD signals at the moment (bearing in mind that there is only BBC HD on Virgin at the moment) are Eurovox EX7000HD and the V+ HD (SA 8300).

I have a deal with virgin, cost me £30 one off payment for my V+ plus, got the XL package, 10 meg BB, phone with free calls after 6pm and at weekends, the XL package gives me all channels apart from sky sports and sky films, and its £37 month, but off course I have my other box for films and sports lol.

But I am very impressed with the V+ box, no problems recording, and easy to use.
