Default Installing Hardrive

iv just got a second hand computer , because the old 1 died! in my old 1 thers a 80gb hardrive full of files i need, can i add it to this comp! as a2nd hd & would i be able 2 access all the files on it o.k! can someone explaine the best way to do it . &and any exta cables i would need ....thank you!

If its an IDE drive you may need an IDE cable, if its a Sata drive you'll need a Sata cable.. Yes you can add the drive to your new PC and use it, just screw it in, then plug cables in and Windows will see it on bootup and assign it a drive letter.. You may or may not need to assign ownership properties of the drive to your login to be able to delete or add files to the drive...

Alternatively you could use it externally having it plugged into a USB port.. For this you need to buy either an External USB drive caddy, or a simple connectivity cable and psu..

Yes if its ide type you will have to change the little jumper from master to slave or it wont know which to boot up windows from, its at the plug in end, its usually marked, you should have spare plugs inside for drive, it will show up as drive E or F, C+D are hard drive and DVD/CD drive normally, If you click on my computer you should see it, then double click on it and it should show all files.

@ RED m8, so if i do that, the hd if got is this sys now will be the master & the 1 im adding will be the slave ...........im i right m8 !
