Thanks for this. I have a modem that I'm going to flash just now, I'm going to check the firmware I'm using so that I can actually go through the process (doesn't feel right just copying and pasting your info, no offense intended).
It's funny I thought I was using the firmware file before rather than the 2MB dump, but didn't notice this. Maybe I've got the files mixed up as I usually rename them for convenience, or maybe I was just blindly following a tutorial and not soaking anything in. I'll go just now, flash my new modem, follow this process to ensure there isn't anything I've forgot to add and I'll be back soon to update my post. |

Okay, I deleted all my old firmware and downloaded haxorware11rev30 again to ensure I was using the correct file. When flashing the modem I did indeed see these prompts and have updated my post accordingly.
The only thing that I'm not happy with now is the fact that I had already installed xinetd, tftpd-hpa & minicom before writing this and don't really want to remove all of these and start from scratch again to check I'm not missing anything out. If I have some free time tonight I'm going to install Ubuntu from scratch on VirtualBox and go through everything step by step. Thanks for all of the help so far, and if anyone follows this process before I get a chance to do this please let me know how you get on. Sorry, didn't notice all those posts above me. If I have to unlock the console, I use VirtualBox to load a copy of Windows and run the console unlocker (Wine is too messed up for me). Forgot all about that part, it was quite tricky getting this to work the first time. When I get the chance I'll go through everything from start to finish again and try and include this (not sure if I have anymore modems that are locked but I'll ask around my friends) Last edited by rhumor; 26-02-09 at 04:31 PM. |

im sure your tutorial is detailed enough, anyone whos running linux should manage to install the required packages... apt keeps it all pretty easy if you are missing something anyway

I know this is an old thread now, but I have to entirely agree with you, I only hope we can get some more posts for linux, ubuntu especially!
