Hi All!!
As you may know I set up a motorized system over Christmas (system details beneath). I think I have the arc set up fairly well as I am able to hit satellites to the east, west and centre of the arc. However I have been trying to lock onto Badr at 26’E for a match tonight but don’t seem to be pulling in much of a signal- only getting about 40% on a couple of the TP’s (& not the one i'm looking for!!). I’m getting a really good signal from the sats to either side- 23.5’e & 28.2’E (90-98%) so the path of the dish shouldn’t be too far away. One thing I have noticed is that if I move to Badr from East or West the on screen signal strength meter jumps up to 90% just before dropping to 20% in it’s final resting place- although this may be due to it picking up an identical TP readings from 23.5’e & 28.2’E. I think a 1.2m dish is recommended for my location but as my 1.1m dish is high gain I thought I should be pulling in more that this. Could my system be looking for the sat in slightly the wrong place? The transponder I was looking for is 12.034H 27500- ¾ for Al Jazeera Sport 1 (apparently FTA tonight). Trev

Bigger dish required
![]() Although you are just about inside the official transmission area the Al Jaz signal will be getting nailed by interference from the identical frequencies on 28E (QVC) and also the double whammy from 23.5E - (Topp TV package) There isnt a great deal you can do about it Im afraid.

I only pull in a 50% signal quality and I'm a bit further into the footprint than you. Cet a good picture normally, but breaks in poor weather.
Don't know if the same will work with your dish but for mine Robbo suggested sliding the lnb as far towards the dish as it would go in the clamp. It did help the signal a bit by about 8%. The other thing you could try is flexing the edges of the dish to see if the signal improves, the weaker the signal the more precise you have to be with the dish setup, if your using usals might be worth nudging the dish with Diseqc controlls see if you can squeeze a bit more signal out of it.

No problems with only a 1m dish here in west yorkshire. see below. Not peaked to perfection either.

Yes, well NI is a lot more west isn't it. I'm getting a whoppin signal on a 90cm.
( It is a Fibo though )Its worth a try seeing if a tweak will improve it, but don't undo any bolts, a gentle hand pressure on the dish will prove one way or the other, also if its a Triax TD110, use an Inverto twin on it, out of all the LNBs I have tried, that one works the best on that dish.

On motorised systems, it can sometimes be useful to use 25.6 (or thereabouts) instead of 26e to lock Badr when using USALS. You can also fine tune if your receiver has that facility.
With diseqc, obviously it is a case of using motor to tweak till getting the best possible signal.

and if you were really mad enough, you could also delete the offending Tp's on the adjacent satellites

Thanks guys!!!
Regarding satelliteman's comments would it help if i deleated TP 12.034H 27500- ¾ off my system for 23.5’E & 28.2’E. Wouldn't be too worried about doing that- you can always input them again if required. Regarding the LNB is it best to have the lnb pushed as close to the dish as possible for all situations or just for this particular sat? Trev

You would have to be really mad, because deleting the Tp's on your receiver, off the adjacent satellites would not help you one iota.
![]() However, somehow destroying those transponders on the adjacent seatellites would.
