Default USB Modem from Vodafone

My father in law got one the usb stick modems model K3760.

His system won't detect it properly. It shows up as a wireless network, but can't even find my wireless router, the software doesn't kick in and when I try to manually explore the drive it just tells me to insert software!?!!

But when I put it into my computer it pops up no probs and installs fine.

Any suggestions as to what could be stopping it from being recognised?
