Default Dreambox clone

Hi, I am wondering whether or whether not dreamboxes can work with fixes even if I do get a clone one.
Questions:
1. Does it really matter in terms of channels, if I get a clone dreambox?
2. Will they be able to take the latest non FTA images?
3. Are dreamboxes updatable by software like how dbox's are and can you use FTP software(I do know how to do dboxes)
4. How much would a genuine one cost and where from?
5. How much would a clone box and where from?
6. Are there any other linux boxes(cheap) apart from dreambox, dbox 2 and Itgate?(I already have a dbox2) and are they easy to "hack"

I listed this in other cable boxes, but got no reply. I then thought it might fit in this section seeing as though I had seen a question about dreamboxes here a couple of days ago

Thanks for that, but can images in the private FTA section(not gemini) make it so that I receive non FTA channels? Also where can I buy cheapest and from a reputable seller

Have a read here mate........

New Black Dreambox 500c

Also you'll be able to pick up a 500c for around 50 quid.........dvbmonkey or dvbseller are 'fairly' reputable.

Should I get this one dvbmonkey.com/catalog/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=8
or do you reckon that I can go cheaper than that?

EDIT: Posted before I saw the previous post

Thanks humforce does anyone here have a cable dreambox clone? Wanting to know how hot the tuner gets. Thats the only reason I want to change-the Dbox 2 tuner runs very hot-even when I put heatsinks on them(even if the heatsinks were only £1)

its not the heat you need to worry over its the quality of signal it will run on
be useless if its running cool and not able to scan for all the chnls.
