Default Receiving foreign channels from within the UK

I have a Fortech FS4400 connected to a satellite at the side of my house.

I assume that the satellite dish is pointing towards the satellite sky use as when I scan 28.2E I can find plenty of TV/radio channels.

I'm interested in picking up some foreign free-to-air channels in foreign languages. i.e. German etc. I have seen on LyngSat that some exist.

According to LyngSat's website there seem to be some free to air German channels at Astra 1H at 19.2°E. When I tell the Fortech to scan there I just get the same as from 28.2E.

Could anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Is your dish motorised or a fixed dish on 28E?

You probably are connected to a zone 1 minidish locked up on 28e.
If so, upgrade dish and include a multibracket for offset LNb (19e + 28e). Motorised is another option.

Or, more simply, if you don't want 28E, swivel the dish round to 19E.

Hi guys, it looks like I have asked my question in exactly the right place.

This is my dish. It's at the front of my house and slightly to the side.

Here is the dish in context of the roof etc.

What do I have here?

Cheers.

A Sky/Freesat minidish, presumably if you're getting English channels, aligned to28E.

There is scope to swivelit round if that's what you want to do. Or put in a larger one (80cm) and get both sats off one dish. Or you could stick another minidish up.

At the moment I have 90% Signal Intensity and 73% Signal Quality. I get a good picture. Are these normal readings for my setup?

I would like to try swivelling the satellite dish towards the 19.2E and then look at some options for getting a more permanent set-up for being able to view 28.2E and 19.2E.

What's the best way to try pointing at 19.2E? I don't have a signal meter at the moment.

Get a marker pen, and mark on the bracket its current position, in both azumith and elevation. Then work out where 9 degrees westward would take it. Move the dish there and swivel it up a fraction.

Then take your sat box and TV outside, wiggle the dish about a bit (gently adjust) until you maximise the signal quality on 19.2E.JOB DONE!
