Recieved a letter from virgin this morning saying - It has been brought to our attention that someone at your address has purchased and may be using an unauthorised set-top box. I've had It 3 years no prob. How do they know???

Think I might have 2 throw my beloved eurovox out

Has any1 else had one?

Funnily enough, No I have not. I only have an official VM box with subscription, maybe that's why.

I heard from a VM engineer that the 1000SL models draw in more of a signal than other models+when a street is full of em it can be picked up on+the signal can then be tweaked by VM 2 mess em up+as subbed boxes have self adjusters it dnt hit them as hard..as for that im personally dubious, but as for the "came to our attention" letter..id say its scaremongering crap cos if VM had any suspiscion that ppl were usin their services 4 nowt i think they wld b more likely 2 send PC plod round 1st 2 have a good sniff+then take action if they find owt..
all eurovoxes/starviews+the like have no talkback capabilities+have negligible echo so it would take sum1 else 2 inform em about ur xtra viewing pleasures or ur whole street 2 be full of 1000Sl models if the info i got told is correct..

could it be sum1 has maybe seen the "Unauthorised Viewing" channel after a powerscan, dumped in their pampers, called the number from a PAYG mob+gave your name up!!!???

yeh i got one was just checking to see if anybody else had recieved them another scare tactic if you ask me

It's a scare tactic, My mate received one last week, he rang them up to say they had the wrong address and if they sent him a letter again or rang him he would call his lawyer. Ever since then he hasn't received one. Also just deny it as they can't arrest you, or say you bought it for your mate who lives abroad.
