hi all
could some lovely person give a brother some advice...
trying to update the excellent theboxpvr with the 21122008 bin file..have connected a 9pin usb connection. which my computer see`s in device manager/ ports etc..and locates in comm1
but can some one emplain section 3 in pc a little clearer

1. USB Download
1) Connect PC & STB with USB Cable
2) Main Menu-> Select HDD Mode Change PVR-> Press 0000 on the RCU
( Showed HDD Mode Change PC )
3) In PC
a) Showed new Local Disk on the PC ( F:W or E:W )
b) Copy new Firmware to firmware folder in the Local Disk.
4) Remove the USB Cable (select safely remove in pc on taskbar 1st)
5) Main Menu-> Select HDD Mode Change PC-> Press 0000 on the RCU
Once HDD Mode Change PVR, STB is automatically re-boot.
6) Main Menu-> Select HDD Interface ->Select Upgrade software from HDD
Select new firmware -> Press 0000 on the RCU
7) Automatically upgraded & re-boot.

It means:

Instructions 3a & 3b are done on your PC, not on the STB.

Hope that's clearer to understand for you mate.

cheers lee-ds but i was hoping for a little more,,i got that it was on the pc,,cant figure out or locate the new local disk part and the copying of new firmware

once you have connected the external hdd, tell the box to go into hdd mode, the drive will show up in my computer, as the 1st available letter after your cd\dvd drives, usually e:, or f:

copy the files to the firmware folder on the hdd, change box hdd mode to pvr, box reboots.

install fireware from hdd, auto installs, job done
