Default help me start

Hi everyone
I have been googling about odo correction but haven;t found a solid start to begin reading. As i understand (corect me pls if I am wrong) there are two paths.1st eprom programmers which require taking out chip and 2nd programming via odb2 plug. What do you suggest for a newbie?
I would like to do motorcycles, and i cannot affort those 10k $ kits. Whats a good start for equipment?
Is something like KM PROGRAMMER TACHO UNIVERSAL V2008

any good? Would it work for bikes?
Pls provide reading stuff if you have any
