Default Virgin Media Chipped

Hi everyone, i am very new to this, i was wondering if you guys can all help me. I'm moving out of my parents house to live by myself for the first time and i really can't afford alot of cash and benefits that i had in my parents. So what i'm asking here is basicly what i need to get cable chipped? Heres alittle more info if your interested in helping much appreciated of course,

What i'm looking for is Virgin 50meg broadband and all the T.V channels along with the HD ones, the house i'm moving in has no cable installed but it can support cable of 50meg so i'm obviously looking for the most cheapest package possible to pay for a year. But this is the problem, If i ask them to install a 10meg package, is it not possible to get 50meg chip on it or do i need to tell them i want 50meg package so they'll install a differently? maybe a stupid question... lol. Second question is, i've already read about the splitter guide, but does this mean that i get 50meg package then just plug in the splitter onto my EuroVox 7000HD box (which i'm hoping to buy) and hopefully this will get me all the T.V Channels that Virgin can give aswell as the HD one, so i don't need the T.V package. Or is there more to that?

Much appreciated =)

Wow. Right dude. Firstly no one refers directly to 'Virgin'. Speaking about a blatant theft of services from a huge reputable company in the United Kingdom isn't really something you want to be doing like this – I'd be careful who you buy this box from.

I do not believe the 'information' required to run the 50mb line is yet obtained however an expert who deals with that will have more of an idea than me. You won't need to tell them to install it any differently. You'll be able to receive every channel that is coming down that 'line' you have installed, regardless of what company does that, yes.

Oh my bad about the "Company Name" i'm noob sorry. Anyways, so if i tell them to install 10meg, how do i get 50meg from it? and all i do is plug in the splitter and connect that to the modem and the HD box eurovox 7000 and i should be able to get all the channels? even if i don't have the t.v package? Thanks.

hi bud the cable to your house is exactly the same for 50 meg broadband you need a modem that supports docis 3 so for 50 meg you need to pay or alternatively look in the modem section and have a read through.
Hd channels with virgin all they have at the moment is one bbc hd.
If you want all the channels you need a eurobox or alternative.Thef of service is illegal and i know way condone it so you need to pay atleast minimum subs. ;0).
do a little reading of eurovox or google modded modems, you dont get a 50meg chip or chipped box.

Ah i see, i think i'm starting to understand it ALOT more than. But what your telling me is, i can't get all the channels with a eurovox 7000 then? And i guess i'm gonna have to pay legit 50meg for the moment. Well cool anyways you guys have been most helpful. And one more thing.. not sure if this is allowed.. but where is the best website to buy eurovox boxes? or any other cable boxes? Thanks.

I don't agree with not paying for the full 50mb service, you want a chipped line so you can pay for 10 and get 50, well I can tell you it's possible, but I won't go into it and the max you can get is about 38mb from a chipped modem, and it won't last very long

As for a Eurovox box, google eurovox and you should get some quality links there.

thats why i told him to search modem forum as i too know the 50 meg config but for a newbie its alot of reading ahead of him,and the modems arent chipped just aftermarket firmware , also you will get all the channels with the ex7000hd but only the channels virgin supply and at the moment theres only 1 hd channel so personally id stick with the ex1000 or ex5000 pvr.good luck and enjoy.
