200's (surfboard mod) stay away for now
250's and 255's ( easy as pie using haxor and a rs232 lead)
256's need chip lifting - stay away

I believe it's the 250/255's, as Mowax says.

250/255 can be bricked and need to mess with console unlocker.

easiest are webstar epc2100r2 as bootloader has p option by default and you have jtag and serial connections.

I wouldn't try that lol coz it took me 4 days to get 1 up and running. Mind you it was bricked.

process is identical to the ambit 250/255, minus console unlocker and softjtag.

and as you said, you recovered a brick, you wont do that with an ambit without a tsop lift.

as per my tutorial from the top, the flashing is the same on all modems, its no harder to use hyperterm on a webstar than it is on a ambit, the only things that make things more difficult is needing to use console unlocker and softjtag.
