Default Motek 2100 motor

Hi guys, bit of a strange one here. Have setup a motec2100. Looks exactly the same as my own SLX motor except for the sticker on it.

On my own motor I had to set the latitude at 50 which gives a corresponding elevation of 38 on the motor scales. Actual Latitude is 54.

I setup the motec motor to the "correct by the manual" settings which didn't track the arc correctly, so I duplicated the settings from my own motor and all is fine.

So the question is am I doing something wrong when setting up or (my thought) is the manufacturer making a bit of a cockup when putting the graduation scales on the motor bracket ? Yes the pole is plumb before anyone states the obvious lol

If it's not the pole being plumb, then it could be the wrong declination angle on the dish itself. I use a lot of those motors (and the TM badged ones), set them for our location and they track perfectly. So the motor is OK

Have you used a TM motor with a 7025 linc?

Its wierd then because I setup the dec according to the manual and got nothing. So I adjusted the dec for 1w then scanned the arc, and nothing but 1w. I thought the crucial bit was the elevation/latitude on the motor and the dec just needed setting to whatever worked ???

Just use the SMWLink software to work out the elevation angle needed. Its free

_http://www.smw.se/FreeSoftware.htm

Works for me. All you will need to know is your due south satellite and your locations latitude and longitude

Just plug in the info requested and it will tell you all you need to know

Just set the motor up for whatever angle it tells you and then mount the dish.

You will then need to fix the dish centrally onto the motors shaft (theres usually a casting mark to guide you) you then adjust the motor (Not the elevation, you adjust the elevation on the dish) until you find your due south satellite

Well according to SMW link the elevation should be 28 degrees. Yet both motors are set at 38 degrees and track the arc perfectly, mine 45e to 45w and the one I setup yesterday 42.5e to 30w (dish can't move any further west because of house). I have setup both with the following steps.

1. Mount pole plumb.
2. Set motor elevation/latitude according to manual and dishpointer.
3. Set dish on motor shaft central.
4. Place motor and dish on pole and adjust motor to 1.5 degrees east (long 2.5 west)
5. Line up on 1w adjusting the declination of dish and the azimuth by moving the motor on the ploe.
6. Test Arc

Is there something I am missing here guys, I don't understand how I have 2 motors working perfectly with the wrong elevation on the motor. Especially when both are out by the same amount. Any ideas what I've done wrong here ?????

The motor elevation for your location is 36.2 deg not 28 deg, you must be mis-interpreting or using the SMW software wrongly. So 38 deg is just a little bit out.
