Default Connecting HTPC to HDTV

Hi Guys

Can anyone help please I can't get my HTPC to connect via HDMI cable to my HDTV. I am using a MSI Media Live DIVA 5.1 motherboard with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 on board graphics.

When I start up PC can see the initial boot screen with a red background then screen goes blank so can't see anything to change settings. So I have tried using monitor and the LCD TV in multiscreen mode but still can't get it to display anything on HDTV it is detected and shows as screen 2.

Any idea guys someone must have done this with MSI Media Live DIVA 5.1 motherboard?

Cheers in advance first post by the way

what makes your lcd? is it full hd ie 1080?

if not then 1366x768 is the max resolution you'll get anyway thats good enough for 720p.

my is hdmi but if ive got the hdmi cable and a vga cable in at the same time i get the black screen, only when remove the vga will the hdmi work.

Works fine using RGB port but with HDMI port monitor displays message invalid scan frequency what does that mean?

Make is Hitachi manual says HDMI input
1080i/50
1080i/60
720p/50
720p/60

If i try booting with just HDMI port can't change settings as just get a blank screen and the above message if I change settting with HDTV as screen 2 will they stay when I reboot and becomes screen 1?

Cheers for the help

Dumbass question, but have you check in the BIOS? I know on mine (Gigabyte with HD3200) there was an option for VGA/DVI or VGA/HDMI.

Sure you've already checked that, but short of trying another HDMI cable, I can't think of any other possible problems.

No check the bios not such setting have tried changing a few things but no change, I though it was the bios as well the channel has DVI in top corner under the normal HMDI which is always there even with no input maybe it is recieving DVI signal. But the motherboard is advertised as HDMI anhas HDMI port. Gutted maybe I'll have to buy an external graphics card

It will boot into windows vista in safe mode put the screen has a red background.

With RGB picture is great but wanted to watch HD movies on it
