Default 10 meg from Virgin Media

Just been in touch with vermin & I can get upgraded to 10 Meg for 2 quid a month extra, good do I thought. What I need to know is how easy is it to install, I get my internet through my set top box at the mo but I will need a modem to get the higher speed. Is it just a case of connecting up or will I need to change settings on my pc? I deffo don’t want a engineer round as my house is a mess, nudge nudge.

Moved out of the braodband section as the folks who know the answer are more likely to be hanging around this section.

I upgraded to 10Mb from 2Mb a few months back. I already had a modem so they said it would be automatic. Unfortunately I had to make numerous calls to customer services to get thru to a technician who had to adjust some settings at his end. Speedtests ain't normally too reliable but if you know the speed you get just know you should be able to check you're getting the 10Mb.

you will need to call VM when the modem arrives and give them the mac so they can provision it onto the network

Yea, the guy I spoke to wanted to upgrade my connection to 10 meg before I got the modem so I would have no internet for a few days until the modem arrived, I will phone back tomoz to see if I can get the modem posted before they flick the switch as no internet means certain death , I would have to get a life or somat.

Hi as above post very soon area by area the 2MB is going to be replaced with 10mb free and you will still be paying for 2MB. i know this as i phoned up to complain as im paying for 10mb and they are not going to alter the prices at this stage. Even the staff on the phone said its not fair maybe i wil get 20MB for the price 10MB.
