Default Modem Firmware

What is the firmware called that bricked all the modems, when the modems username and password were set as default - Admin and Infinite.

Im trying to find out if I can use the Console Unlocker on my 255 modem to get the P Option back.

Thanks

You can use console unlocker to open it up, but you'll also need softjtag to re-write the Bootloader with the "p" option.

Are u sure u can use console unlocker on bricked modems? ...I thought u could only sort them out by replacing the chip.

If it is actually bricked, then yes, you'll need to lift the chip

Nothing m8, as it was hit by VM when the user name/password were not changed

So ur saying if I see anything in Hyperterminal, I can use Console unlocker to get P Option back?

No, he's saying that if you get anything in hypertrm then it can possibly be saved without lifting the tsop. Console unlocker is only useful if it's actually taken the 'alex' update.

cheers, fitz

One of my 250 modems won't work with Hyperterminal, nothing happens. I tried using the the Unlock Console programme but it says no communication with com port1.

This is the modem that was hit by VM when they updated all the modems firmware, when the username and password was not changed from default. Does this mean the modem is bricked?

Thanks
