Default Editing Posts?

I noticed that I am unable to edit certain posts I have done, this is unusual as normally I can. Can a mod help?

Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

The editing of posts is time limited to 20 mins, there was a loophole in the forum software that previously allowed edits for a much longer period, but this loophole has now been closed.

Might be an idea to contact brian, he may be able to tweak the settings in your case.

Is this due to the bad ad thing ?
Will lead to alot more posts on the board, I just had to repost on one of my threads with some more info, where an edit would have been more appropriate. Not that I mind if thats the way Brian and the Mods want it

Its a shame to lose the editing ability because of one guys actions, seems a bit of an over reaction!

Ive been meaning to update a eurovox guide for a while now but obviously this can no longer be done.

I would have to agree. While it doesn't really affect me, I do think the restrictions on editing ones own posts is a step backwards. Most of us are aware of the reason for the change, but the chances of someone else feeling the need to do likewise is very slim and in the end really only lets him or herself down. Such childish behavior is seen for what it is.

My two cent for what it is worth.

I have to agree.
I found late editing useful,if only to add a bit.or even just to correct some misspelt word that annoys me.

To be honest, it's a normal practice on forums to limit editing of posts up to a certain time - namely because in normal thread discussions, if someone were to go back and edit a post once people are referring to it, it can make the whole thread nonsensical.

I had thought this was applied here, but recent events showed that it wasn't in place.

The 20 minute limit should be fine for checking typos of similar as people need for editing under normal circumstances, but obviously with tutorials we'll need to ensure there are ways to keep these updated.

Ronster, I've been meaning to PM you for a while - will get one sent in a moment.

Brian, I understand your idea of the time frame for editing posts but wondered if i could still have this facility as i like to add or delete offers on posts.
thanks

SS, if you have any current threads that need editing, could you send me the details, please?

Simply that I'd have to set up a new usergroup for you at present to allow editing, and I'd rather avoid doing that in a rush.
