Default Blackcat/*JTAG Utility* and Spansion Webstars

Hi Guy's.

I have a few Webstars, i.e EPC2100, and/or EPC2100R2's.

I think there bricked. I dont get any responce from a bootloader in Hyperterm or Putty.

I have Blackcat leads, Simple and JTag ones.

I have connected to one of them with the Simple Blackcat and the Blackcat software recognises the CPU but not the flash.

I've tried overwriting the Flashpi.dll with various versions found in a few places. No Joy with detecting the flash.

I've got hold of JTag Utility and it detects the flash. I just have ZERO idea on how to use it. There is nothing obvious in the menu's other than detecting the flash.

I've seen a few posts here and there which include a list of commands but again, i've had a play with them but do not know what i'm supposed to do.

I have my file in .bin I want to flash on the chips. This is from a spansion EPC2100R2 with haxorware and was taken using the GUI.

Any other ideas would be appreciated but mainly I need help with the commands in JTag Utility.

Thanks in advance.

been a little while since i used jtag utility, i didnt like it much. but if you type "help" at the prompt it'll give you all the possible commands, and iirc ou can type "help <command>" and get more info. it may have been just <command> though, i.e. program withut any arguments afterwards will give you info on how to use it. i'mw aiting ont he computer with it on starting, and i'll hav a run through with a modem i have here, see if i can help you out more

Blackcat = Program used to dump to Flash chips in modems. Usually Moto SB's but is used in debricking others.

Spansion = New type of flash chip seen in Webstars

i can confirm this working.....
poor mans blackcat, made out of a couple of foot long cat 5 cable and a 25pin d sub
strip insulation back and solder onto points. (because its quite strong, it goes straight thru and bonds very nicely)
Then use Jtag Utility commands...
ldram flash (browse to full2mbhaxordump.bin)
program flash
then wait for it to flash, (about half an hour i think)
i do have a full2mbhaxor flash.bin for the sa2100r2 if needed.
job done.

no, chippy tea was good to... it always is from that chippy.

there bloody good modems them... brick the fw, brick the bootloader, pull the plug out halfway thru the flash.. just blackcat with a cable costing a quid and flash back to the latest hax. i'll not buy another ambit 250 again.
