Default Newbie would like to flash a surfboard 5100i

Hi all

I already own a sb5100i that has been flashed and updated the tftp address the other day with this forums help.

My query is, I have been given another sb5100i, and would like to flash this.

The firmware on the working modem is sigma-x2:version 1.0(Build 128)

I would like to know if I can flash this new modem with just an ethernet cable, null modem cable or will I have to purchase a more specialised cable and if so which one and where will I get one.

Also where will I get the sigma-x2:version 1.0(Build 128) firmware.

TIA

Rab.

You need to use SB5100MOD

you can ftp the new firmware file to the modem using sigmas gui.....

set comp nick card to 192.168.100.10 with the subnet it automatically fills in for you.

then run solarwinds or whatever.

type the 192.168.100.10 into sigmas web gui under tftp update and then enter your filename, eg your5100MODbinfile.bin
enter and it should ftp to it and reboot to haxor.

yes solarwinds is the free ftp software

the sigma GUI is Graphical User Interface (go to 192.168.100.1, or maybe 192.168.100.1:1337)

you can get the firmware in the usual places. (Google SB5100MOD and sign up somewhere to download) if your struggling, pm me your addy and i'll email it.
