Question IP Address

I was wondering if my IP address could be traced back to me if I do not have a VM subscription?

This is purely a hypothetical situation, but lets say that a company contacted VM saying that they had caught my IP address downloading their program illegally... would VM be able to use that IP address and trace it back to my house?

as far as I know it's the mac address that's linked to ur house and if ur using a clone then the person with the mac will be questioned. But then again he won't have that ip address

They could sent an engineer to trace you by the MAC...but they'd have to have a damn good reason to go to all that trouble.

What are you up to you scoundrel?

cheers, fitz

Wait a second, I am using someone else's MAC, so how could they trace it back to my house?

They'd have to trace it from your local UBR, to the green cab in your street, to your drop cable.

Like I said, they won't bother without good reason

cheers, fitz
