Few Q's about using two tv cards

I'm a complete newbie to world of HTPC's and TV on PC and slowly making progress - my first HTPC build and after some power issues, I got it together and Vista Home Premium up and running.

My goal is to be able to receive TV into my Vista and control everything via the Media Center remote control. But I have two different sources. One is a French Sat receiver (I have a card for this). And the other is a cable receiver.
For the cable receiver, I understand that I will need to get a FunCard and programmer and codes for my region ?
But for the Satellite receiver, do I just need to get a FloppyDTV S2 and take the card out of my receiver and put it into this ? and that's it ?

My other question, which is confusing me is - if I get a FloppyDTV C/CI and also a FloppyDTV S2 (the expense is way more than I can afford ), then how does VMC differentiate between the two cards ? Do I have two EPG's ? When I go into VMC, it allows me to set up my TV card - I didn't see a way to add more cards etc ? Once set up, will I be able to choose two TV sources ? Very confused on this - any help appreciated

I'm not a hundred percent certain but i think the epg's will mix, you can though re-arrange the channels in the settings option...
When you got to set up tv it tells you which cards you have installed and asks to pick which you'd like to use.

Ta - can I ask another silly question !
I have currently a French satellite receiver with which I have a card which I bought from TNTSAT. Do I just need to get a DVB-S/S2 card with a CI slot and then just slot the card in and it will decrypt the channels ? Or will the card not go in / do anything when I put it in ? Do I need to get a DVB-S/S2 card with CI and then somehow get what is on the paid-for TNTSAT card on to a programmable SmartCard ?

you'll need to get a cam for the ci slot to take the card, there are some "dodgy" cams out there that decrypt some channels.But these are getting less and less...(channels that is)
The cam you need will depend on the type of encryption used on the network you are subscribing to sky=NDS premiere=Nagra3 etc....

Okay, I decided to sell my French TV receiverr and TNTSAT subscription card and got my dish re-aligned to 5W, where I can get the main Frenc Channels FTA. So, cam etc issues gonee now.

So, got dishes re-aligned. One at 28.2E for FreeSat and one at 5W for French TV.

BUT....
I have an Avermedia A700 DVBB-S Pro card. Says it's Vista compatile. I connected the sat cable to an old Sky box to make sure I was still getting the signak=l and tht worked fine. Then I connected cable to PC. Set region to UK, set sat to 28.2, scanned and nothing .....

I then connected the French TVv to the card - set it to Fraance, weent to select the satellite but it only had East frequencies I was able to put in a Custom satellite but when I put in 5W, it saved it as 355E ??? Also, I was supposed to put in a list of frequencies - not sure what to put it - I tried Googling Atlantic Bird 3 / 5W bbut no lucck

try lyngsat or king of sat for frequencies...
need a bit more info to help with card etc...
