Well, its never as simple as plug in and go...

You will need to understand your modem, the firmware it uses, info regarding your area and a valid mac to register the modem on the network.

Try to elaborate some, give us as much info you can as it will help to resolve the issue more quickly.

In theory, if you had read some of the forums, you should already know the answer to this question.

Mac trading is banned here on techwatch, there are sites that do allow it, but here is strictly forbidden.

You would be best to get yourself clued up on how to sniff for mac addresses, there are topics related to this in the forums, just use search.

When you have sniffed yourself a handful of different macs on your ubr, you can trade them with someone from an area near yours.

The need to do so is simple, if you were to take a mac address you sniffed from your own ubr, you and the person whos mac you are trying to use will be forced into a loop of constant rebooting of both modems as the server will not allow two instances ofthe same mac.

Trading of macs will avoid this, as you are using a mac from a different ubr, on your own ubr. This is known as mac cloning.

To learn more, search the forums and read! I always say it, why else would my posts be the way they are? Why would i have helped as much as i have? Simple, i read, searched and read some more. And guess what? I still do everyday, so take the advice and search!

Good luck

ps. Remember the thanks button
