Default multi room - signal boosting

Hi,
I'm looking to split my signal 4 ways (1 broadband, 3 for tv). I reckon i'll need to get a signal booster to run this setup. My questions are 1) will a simple 4 way booster from Argos etc do the job and 2) Should the booster be used before the splitter?
Any other advice/things to look out for would be appreciated as I'm sure this is something loads of people have done.
Thanks in advance.

Simple 4 way booster argos = Nooo!

The booster should be used before the splitter yes, but it may not be necessary - check signal levels before spending money.

Do you only have one virmin feed into your house? I have two, so i split the modem and subbed box off one, a two modded from the other.

Which booster should I use then? (I think I will need one as I currently have the signal split 3 ways (1 broadband, 2 tv) and the signal quality has gone down a bit.) Adding a 4th split will only makes things worse.

I've only got one feed coming into the house.

Ok.

You will need to look for CATV amplifiers, the best i have found are on ebay, some are active splitters with a booster built in.

The one i use is made by Konig, its a CATV signal amplifier, baught from ebay.

There are other makes on ebay too, but the Konig brand is pretty well known above the rest.

3 pot active return amplifier. Search CATV amplifier on ebay.

DO NOT BUY THE £3.99 CHINESE JOB IT WILL NOT WORK.

The yellow one, with the 3 pot adjustment is what you need. Tried and tested.
