Will I get Spanish programmes?!

Hope this post isn't in the wrong section?! We are about to purchase a Technomate box (unsure of model etc yet!)....could use some advice in fact?!
Just returned from 3 months in Spain and I was so pleased to find that I could follow programmes over there as long as the channel was showing SPANISH (not English!) SUBTITLES.
Am I likely to receive them over here (Wales).
We would require other satellites too, do we need various LMB's? We also would wish to record etc.
Mainly it's the subtitles that I can get no advice about?!! Thank you, Ana x

Hi,

Here is a list of all the FTA spanish channels available on satellite.
http://www.flysat.com/tv-sp.php hispasat on 30W is the best option for a fixed dish. A medium sized dish focussed at 30W would do the job.

I'm not sure about subtitles though, if they are transmitted then they should be available, but as far as I remember they are not, but can check later. if I watch any Spanish channels I tend to try and listen, as the subtitles can be distracting. (On DVDs)

I know what you mean about the subtitles but I have not quite reached the stage where I can follow a film etc without them!! Cartoons, I can just about cope with! Ana x

Yes, I much prefer the sound of South American, or Canary Island Spanish, it doesn't have the lisps.

Nahh, I can't follow it either, just pick out a sentence here and there. When I put subtitles on, I end up just reading those, and they are not always the same as what's being said. Yes, I wil take a look muy tarde esta noche.

Ok, Checked 19.2E, 30W and 43W. None of the channels have subtitles. The only one that even came up with the option was TVCi with catalan, but no subtitles actually appeared.

Yes, I think so, I had a quick listen in while I was checking the channels, and you have to kind of 'tune in' to it.
