Default Chinese/food/nature programmes

WE have sky because my mother-in-law likes the above.
I visited my brother who has ended his contract with sky. He is still able to access many programmes including the Chinese channel, but not nature or food programmes.

I want to reduce my outgoings to Sky.Is it possible somehow to get the food/nature and Chinese programmes without subscribing to sky and at less cost please?

Regards.

If you end your subscription you will still get PCNE Chinese Channel, but all the pay channels will disappear.

Its easy to see what will disappear - just pull the card out and see how many of your favourite channels still work.

If you are asking "Can I hack the encryption and get Sky free?" then the answer is no.

No, I did not ask about codeing or whatever.
I already know that I can get CNE from my brother who has ended his subscription and also know that the nature /food programmes are not available. From 520 on.

I did ask if there is a way to get the mentioned programmes.

For example using a card, or another satallite system or another box.

Regards.

Which specific channels are you wanting to watch?
If you post their names, then we can further information regarding whether they are available elsewhere for free.
Foe example on another satellite called Hotbird, there are other free Chinese channels e.g CCTV 4,New Tang Dynasty

Thanks for reply.

My mother in law has only watched CCN on sky. So has not sampled the other Chinese programmes.I've just remembered you can watch CNN even if you do not subscribe to Sky.
So its programmes like National Geographic animal planet 525 and the cookery programmes which are on vatious channels . My brother says you cannot get anything above 520 if you stop subscription but about 50 other channesl are available but not animal or food programmes.
Someone told me that if you knew the sattalite channel codes for the programmes you wanted you could enter them using the remote and save them. I do not know if you cease to belong to Sky whether you can still do this.
As you can gather THis is rocket science to me.

You can check which channels are free to air,by simply removing the viewing card from the Sky digibox.
There are still many free, which includes channels above channel number 520
The free channel list can be found here
National Geographic and Animal Planet are not free to air on other satellites either.
PCNE Chinese(channel number:785)and CCTV-9(ch:510) both have Chinese cookery programmes.
NHK World, channel number:516 has a Japanese cookery programme.
Many of other Asian(Indian/Pakistani)channels all have cookery programmes.
Supreme Master(channel number:835),has a cookery programme(focusing on Vegetarian cooking).
